April 9, 2005

Delmar, DE.....The first Delaware Dirt Divisional (DDDS) WKA Series for 2005 got underway Saturday, 9, 2005 after a week long of rainy days at the U. S. 13 Kart Club Track.  Both, of the practice sessions had been lost to wet rainy ground the last two weeks.  Drivers were antsy to get in the seat to rip off some action packed laps.

The weather for Saturday was to be cloudy and windy but luckily the front moved off the coast fast, that the day was full of sun although rather chilly and windy, where many karters gathered for the first race for 2005.  After such bad weather the track had no idea in the morning or not if the race would be held.  Gates and registration were delayed three hours in hopes the track and grounds could host the first DDDS WKA if mother nature only cooperated; so seeing the sun was a very pleasant surprise.

The turn out brought many new karters to the track, and a lot of regulars.  The day when off without a hitch while everyone was glad the season was finally getting started.

Derek Magee picked up his fist career win in the JR. I Heavy class.  Many strong contenders started right where they left off last year in the front, such as Chad Reed, Chad Hayes, Matt Mowbray, Jr., Cameron Collins, Rick Argo and several more.  All the results are below.

Next Friday night the U. S. 13 Kart Club will open at 5:00 PM for the first club race for the year.  U. S. 13 Kart Club track is on the Route 13, north, one mile of the MD, DE State line at the Delaware Motorsports Complex home of the Delaware International Speedway and the U. S. 13 Dragway.  For a complete schedule visit www.dekarting.net or call the tracks hot line at 302-848-2426 for upcoming events.
