Delaware Kart Champs Get One More Ride In
By Bonnie Nibblett
Delmar, DE.....With just about 4 weeks off from any karting due to rain strikin weekends, a lot of racers turned to U. S. 13 Kart Club Track Friday night, October 28, 2005, to participate in the 2nd annual Money Race & Halloween Party. The night chilled early, but the action on the track was non stop to keep everyone warm. Quite a few karts were registered in all classes with Lite and Medium having over 15 karts in each race and with others having 10 or so in a feature.
Winners of U. S. 13 Kart Club MONEY RACE were Zachary Swain, Cody Dawson, Bradley Collins, Brandon Larimore, Chad Hayes, Mike Reynolds, Charles Hayes, Chad Reed, Randy Wroten, John Macklin and Zachary Bullis. Notice there were quite a few new racers that came out to take a crack at the clay oval. Ending of the years' events also gives drivers' time to take a gamble and race a new class that they might be switching to for next year or try to win some extra cash. Or maybe with the points over now, you can also try new things.
The season continued to grow every week with a lot of drivers coming to race week after week. The Pee-Wee and Junior classes as well as the Rookie classes really has grown the last two seasons and had some of the best racing to offer; a little slower pace maybe, but fun. Then there are some that have a very tight racing making why we all love it and crave it the way we do.
Racing is a family sport, all so many times you see racers grow from tots to pee-wee, juniors, seniors, and generation of drivers. But not only that families can produce new drivers, it offers many task for others in the family to do almost, no matter how old. Clocking laps, changing tires, helmet prep, getting heat and feature line ups, are just some small yet very important parts in helping drivers prepare for their time on the circle. As in many sports it is always a good way to share moments to remember forever as a family.
With the racing season wrapping up quickly, time will quickly pass to soon get a little NEED FOR SPEED thrills, I hope. Seasons last a little longer now, getting over concludes with a banquets usually. Then we recycle all over to get geared up for the next year and all the adrenalin starts pumping getting a new car ready or race for the first time, or the race again for the first time in a long time, finding out who going where, as they call them silly seasons, and rightly so most of the time.
The U. S. 13 Kart Club track is over for now except the winterizing, and the banquet. The banquet will be held Saturday, January 21, 2006, at the Laurel Fire Department Hall on Tenth Av., in Laurel, DE. Times, how to obtain and prices are in the works and can be found on our web site at www.dekarting.net in soon days to come. The banquet committee is also taking door prizes toward awarding during the evening. Contact Phyllis Hayes, at H. P. Speed, 22091 Lewes Georgetown, Georgetown, DE 19947, 302-856-7835.
